Equipment Reservations

We are accepting reservations for equipment! Take a look at the equipment we have available for reservation by using the WebCheckout Patron Portal. Equipment may be picked up during the Learning Hub's open hours.

If the equipment you need is not listed in the Patron Portal, please submit a ticket in our help form. We will get back with you within 1 business day.

You may also be eligible to borrow equipment from other campus providers. Check out Tech Resources and Support | Resources Directory | Equipment Loans.

The Tech Desk Policies

Questions about loaning options, extensions, and copies of relevant documentation should be directed to our help form. All late returns are subject to $5/day and will be remotely locked (if applicable) if not returned within 3 business days of their due date. Limit one resource per type per person.

The Tech Desk asks for all patrons of our services to sign the Patron Agreement form and to adhere to the following policies:

  • All checkouts are expected to be returned by 2pm on the due date, unless otherwise specified on the Checkout Confirmation.
  • Checkouts returned late may be subject to late fees.
  • Patrons with unpaid invoices will not have access to additional resources from The Tech Desk until the invoice is paid in full.
  • Patrons who have a checkout that is overdue by 10 days will be charged for the full replacement fees of the loaner equipment.
  • Returning damaged or broken equipment may result in being charged for the repair or replacement of the equipment.
  • The Tech Desk may reach out to patrons with active checkouts for information relating to the checkout and equipment. We expect responses within 1 week of first being contacted.  Should we not receive a response, the due date will be changed to the next business day and future checkout privileges through The Tech Desk may be lost.
  • Policy violations may result in loss of checkout privileges at The Tech Desk.

Computers

The Tech Desk checks out two different types of computing devices:

  • M2 MacBook Airs
  • ASUS Chromebooks & 4th Gen iPad Airs (with Apple Pencil & Keyboard)

M2 MacBook Air

Two week checkout MacBook Airs are available to actively enrolled students whose personal machine is broken and are in the process of sending theirs in for repair, purchasing a new machine, or working with Financial Aid / Opportunity Fund to secure funding. Reservations are required for these devices.

In order to renew the checkout computer at the end of the two weeks, students need to provide the Tech Desk with one of the following:

  • Receipt of a new machine purchase
  • Repair shop receipt
  • Communication with funding sources (i.e email correspondence, SNOW ticket)

If students are not able to provide documentation, they may need to return the MacBook Air. Students still needing computer access for coursework should use cluster machines in their residences or in the Learning Hub and 24 Hour Space.

Chromebook & iPad Air

All students are eligible to check out a loaner Chromebook OR iPad Air for a maximum duration of 2 weeks each academic quarter. Reservations are required to check out these devices and there are no extensions available for these devices.

iPads & Apple Pencils

All iPad kits come with the iPad, an Apple Pencil, a charger brick, a charging cable, and a case. We also offer check-outs of individual 1st and 2nd Gen Apple Pencils. Actively enrolled students are able to reserve one of the below options:

  • iPad Kit - Quarter-Long (maximum 11 weeks)
    • Extensions on Quarter-Long iPads depend on inventory and are possible at the discretion of The Tech Desk.
  • 1st or 2nd Gen Apple pencil - Quarter-Long (maximum 11 weeks)
    • Extensions are NOT available for any Apple Pencil check-outs.
    • All individual Apple Pencils are due by the end of the quarter, but are eligible to check out again for future academic quarters.
    • If you find that an Apple Pencil is helpful with your academic work, we suggest you look into purchasing options for future quarters.

The Center for Teaching and Learning has a specific iPad for Teaching & Learning program aimed to support TAs and teaching team members in need of an iPad kit or Apple Pencil. We are prioritizing students in need of a loaner iPad for their enrolled courses, so please apply through CTL if applicable.
