Job Description

create:space Consultants are responsible for providing friendly and knowledgeable assistance to users of the Lathrop Learning Hub and our makerspace technologies. They are fast learners who are interested in helping our patrons use the equipment, as well as host training workshops to teach a variety of software applications and showcase our space. Consultants are well aware of the importance of excellent customer service and keeping up to date with the latest technologies and services the create:space and Learning Hub has to offer.

Pay:  Starts at $16.75/hr

Available Terms:  Fall, Winter, and Spring. Summer Quarter optional.

Qualifications

Commit to working schedule of at least 8 hours/week during the academic year with the intention to work at least three consecutive quarters to build optimal proficiency. (Summer may be excluded.)

Enthusiasm for working with and teaching people, even if they are strangers.

Ability to talk in front of people and lead a workshop on our makerspace equipment and use cases.

Love for all parts of the creative process.

Experienced in or willing to learn customer service (formal or informal). 

Interest in learning new platforms and procedures and to work on short-term projects as assigned.

Reliable and prompt to scheduled shifts. Extremely responsive to email, texts, and phone calls.

Willingness to complete training modules every quarter of employment. Modules include content regarding 3D Printing, Dremel Laser Cutter, Cricut and more!

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service and training to Stanford students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Design and host training workshops to patrons showing them different creative uses of the equipment and teaching them how to use it themselves.

Process and print 3D print files for patrons using our handful of 3D printers. Assist with the troubleshooting process for any file or print errors.

Maintain a professional, functional, and clean work environment in the create:space and the Lathrop Learning Hub, 24hr Space.

Complete training modules every quarter to increase multimedia skills and attend regular staff meetings to discuss create:space matters and troubleshooting strategies.
