Screen Mirroring
LTS Cluster Computer Screen Mirroring Guide
To set up screen mirroring, extended screen, or universal keyboard and mouse control between the LTS Cluster Computer and a Mac or iPad, follow these steps. Currently only available at The Hub @ Lathrop and 24 hour Space at Lathrop Library.
Preliminary Setup
Ensure both devices:
- Have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled.
- Connected to the 'Stanford' SSID Wifi network
- Are logged in and unlocked.
- Are signed into the same Apple ID account with two-factor authentication enabled.
On the Cluster Mac Computer
Log into the same Apple ID account on the Cluster Computer and your device with two-factor authentication enabled. Open the Systems Settings Application and log in. Wait a few minutes to let the devices sync.
For Universal Control, move your mouse to the edge of your screen and keep going until it crosses onto the other device. A gray indicator will appear at the edge as the cursor transitions. You will be able to control both devices with one set of keyboard and mouse.
- For Screen Mirroring, open System Settings (or System Preferences) and navigate to Displays on your device or the cluster computer.
Click the + button or select Add Display. If your device isn’t listed, ensure WiFi and Bluetooth are enabled on both devices. Wait a few minutes for it to appear.
- If mirroring from a Cluster computer, select your iPad or Mac from the available devices. If mirroring from your own device, choose the Cluster computer’s hostname, displayed at the bottom of the desktop background.
- Once added as a secondary display, click on the connected device and use the “Use As” dropdown to toggle between:
- Link Keyboard and Mouse
- Mirror Display
- Extend Display
These steps will allow you to integrate your devices with the LTS cluster computer for enhanced functionality. Your Apple ID login will automatically be cleared daily after computer maintenance.
