Loan Process
All loaner equipment from The Tech Desk should be picked-up from the Hub @ Lathrop. While a majority of equipment may be picked up on the same day, we do offer patrons the ability to reserve equipment up to 90 days in advance.
All reservations should be picked up at The Tech Desk on the date of your reservation and as close to the time specified on the reservation as possible. Reservations will only be held for a maximum of three hours (or until we close) from the originally scheduled pick up time. Please make sure to have your Stanford ID available for verification.

Same-Day Loans
Did your laptop run out of battery while studying in the Hub? Or want to have a movie night with friends and use a projector? No problem! Stop by with the Hub @ Lathrop to pick-up the equipment you need. All you need is your Stanford ID!
Reservations
Need to have a camera for a special event in a month? Planning to need an Apple Pencil to pair with your personal iPad for the quarter? Make a reservation! It gives you peace of mind the equipment will be ready for when it is needed.

Step-by-step instructions to reserve an iPad
- Go the WebCheckout Patron Portal
- Select “New Reservation”
- A Message of the Day pop-up window will appear. Please read through the message for information and updates about our current services. Then, you can Dismiss the message.
- Select "Browse Catalog"
- Select the type of item you wish to reserve.
- For this example, select iPad and the available iPad subtype.
- Select the green plus sign, located below the iPad image. This will add the item to your reservation cart.
- Select "Return to Reservation"
- Select a pick up and end time.
- Pick up time must have an available slot. If you see 25/25, all 25 slots are full - please select another time.
- iPads are eligible for one quarter. Select an end date at the end of the quarter (before you leave campus).
- Fill out the fields listed on the reservation form. There are six required fields and one optional field.
- Review your form for accuracy.
- Any errors will show at the bottom of the form with a red hexagon. Review the prompts and adjust accordingly.
- If there are no errors, a green thumbs up icon will appear at the bottom of the form.
- Select "Submit Reservation"
You will receive confirmation your reservation has been submitted. We will review your reservation and you will receive an email when your reservation is approved. Please note that your reservation must be approved before you can pick-up your loaner equipment.

Pick Up FAQs
- Can’t make your reservation time? We understand appointments come up and you may be delayed. After the 3 hours have passed, the reservation will automatically be canceled.
- Can a trusted friend pick up my equipment? Yes, we do allow for friends or partners to pick-up loaner equipment on your behalf. Please let us know who will be picking up the equipment on your behalf in writing by submitting a ticket. Keep in mind that you will still be responsible for the equipment should anything happen to it while it is in their possession.
- Can I change my reservation pick up date/time? Maybe. Please submit a ticket and include the date and time you would like to pick up your reservation. We cannot guarantee this change, but will do our best to accommodate.
